How to enable a free SSL certificate (Let's Encrypt)

Every domain hosted with us can enable a free Let's Encrypt SSL certificate directly from the panel, at no extra cost.

Prerequisites

• The domain's DNS must correctly point to our server (A/AAAA or CNAME records, as applicable).
• The site must be publicly reachable over HTTP at the time of validation.

Enabling the certificate

1. Log in to Virtualmin with your Extra Administrator account.
2. Go to Server Configuration → SSL Certificate.
3. Open the Let's Encrypt tab.
4. Confirm that your primary domain — and, if you want, the "www" subdomain — are selected.
5. Click Request Certificate.
6. If validation succeeds, you'll see a success message and the certificate will be installed automatically.

Automatic renewal

Let's Encrypt certificates expire every 90 days, but Virtualmin renews them automatically before that date. You don't need to do anything, as long as your domain's DNS keeps pointing to our server.

Forcing HTTPS

You can force all traffic to use HTTPS by enabling the corresponding option under Server Configuration → Website Options, or by adding a redirect rule to your .htaccess file.
